Atraulia (Azamgarh). Police have invoked the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act against two accused allegedly involved in cheating job aspirants by promising fake Agniveer recruitment and government jobs. A case has been registered at Atraulia police station against Manoj Yadav of Tejapur and Pintu Yadav alias Krishna of Dhyanipur.
Police said the two accused allegedly operated an organised gang that targeted candidates with promises of securing Agniveer recruitment and government employment. Members of the alleged gang collected money from job aspirants through online channels and subsequently provided them with fake appointment letters.

According to the allegations, when victims realised that the promised recruitment had not materialised and demanded their money back, they were threatened with serious consequences, including death. The investigation into the alleged activities subsequently led police to initiate proceedings under the Gangsters Act against the two accused.
The action is based on evidence that emerged during investigations into two separate cases registered at Atraulia police station. The first case was registered following a complaint received on March 25. Pintu Yadav, Manoj Yadav and others were named in the case, which involved allegations of cheating, forgery and criminal intimidation.
During the investigation, police claimed to have gathered sufficient evidence against Manoj Yadav and Pintu Yadav. On the basis of the findings, a gang chart was prepared against the two accused. The investigation allegedly indicated that they were involved in organised activities aimed at cheating people seeking employment.
A second case was also registered following a separate complaint received on March 25. The complainant alleged that money had been taken on the pretext of arranging Agniveer recruitment and that fake appointment letters were subsequently issued to the candidates.
Police said investigations into both cases have been completed and charge sheets have already been submitted to the court. The findings from these investigations were subsequently used to initiate proceedings under the Gangsters Act, with the accused allegedly being linked to organised criminal activities.
The gang chart prepared against the accused was approved by the Azamgarh District Magistrate on September 10. Following the approval, police registered a case under the Gangsters Act at Atraulia police station at 12:15 p.m. on September 13 against Manoj Yadav and Pintu Yadav alias Krishna.
Investigators are now conducting further inquiry into the Gangsters Act case. The probe is expected to focus on the alleged links of the two accused with other individuals, the preparation and use of fake appointment letters and the online channels allegedly used to collect money from job aspirants.
Police are also examining the circumstances in which candidates were allegedly lured into paying money for recruitment and how the accused allegedly responded when victims sought refunds. Further legal action will be taken on the basis of evidence collected during the investigation.
