The Narcotics Squad of Delhi Police’s Rohini district has recovered a consignment of 30,000 counterfeit Gold Flake cigarettes and arrested an alleged supplier following an enforcement action. Senior officials confirmed that the operation was carried out after personnel received actionable intelligence regarding the movement of spurious tobacco products across local distribution channels. The suspect was intercepted during a field raid, resulting in the direct recovery of the entire consignment before it could reach retail markets.

Joint raid executed following specific intelligence

The targeted operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) Ajmer Singh and led by Rohini Narcotics Squad Inspector Rakesh. Acting on a secret tip-off received on Friday, the unit gathered inputs that an individual involved in the distribution of spurious branded cigarettes would be present within the jurisdiction of the North Rohini police station. Based on this specific information, the operational unit promptly moved into the designated area to cordon off movement and intercept the suspect.

The police team swiftly conducted a raid at Rohini Sector-4, where they successfully intercepted the suspect. The individual was detained and identified as 39-year-old MD Faizan. Upon carrying out a comprehensive physical check and inspection at the spot, officers recovered 30,000 counterfeit Gold Flake cigarettes from his custody. The seized goods were promptly taken into official possession, and the accused was formally placed under arrest by the enforcement team.

Operational team coordinates field apprehension

The raiding party deployed on the ground included Sub-Inspector Ashok Tomar, Head Constable Puneet, and Constable Najim, who worked together to secure the location and apprehend the suspect without incident. Officials noted that the seizure of such a substantial quantity of counterfeit branded products highlights active attempts by illicit operators to push substandard and unauthorized items into regular neighborhood retail points.

Following the arrest and confiscation of the consignment, administrative procedures were carried out by the district unit. The operational squad documented the recovery process at the scene before handing over the accused along with the seized evidence for formal registration and further legal proceedings under relevant provisions.

Vijay Vihar police station registers FIR

Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Jaiswal stated that a first information report has been formally registered at the Vijay Vihar police station in connection with the recovery. Investigators have taken custody of the accused to conduct detailed questioning regarding the operational routes used to transport the spurious tobacco products. Legal proceedings under statutory provisions have been initiated following the registration of the case.

Investigators are currently interrogating the accused to trace the backward and forward linkages of the illicit supply chain. According to DCP Shashank Jaiswal, the primary focus of the ongoing inquiry is to uncover the original manufacturing source of the spurious stock, identify the persons responsible for packing and distribution, and determine the wider nexus operating across the capital. Police teams are examining the seized material and conducting further checks to apprehend any additional associates connected to the counterfeit network.
