Steven McBee Sr., a prominent personality on the American reality television series ‘McBee Dynasty’, has agreed to pay approximately ₹64 crore to the United States government to resolve his federal crop insurance fraud case. Court documents reveal that the 54-year-old founder of McBee Farm & Cattle Co. must pay a forfeiture judgment of approximately ₹28.2 crore alongside restitution of roughly ₹35.9 crore to the US Department of Agriculture. The settlement concludes legal proceedings stemming from a 2018 agricultural scheme in which McBee pleaded guilty in November 2024. Under the terms of the financial agreement, McBee is required to remit an initial installment of approximately ₹2.67 crore within 14 days of the effective date, with the remaining balance due within the subsequent 10 months.
Conviction and Imprisonment Over 2018 Grain Operations
The federal prosecution centered on fraudulent claims linked to the federal crop insurance program. According to disclosures from the US Department of Justice, McBee admitted that in 2018 he sold more than 1.2 million bushels of corn and nearly 416,000 bushels of soybeans to another party as part of a fraudulent operation. The scheme involved obtaining federal insurance benefits to which he was not legally entitled.
Although facing a statutory maximum sentence of up to 30 years behind bars, McBee was handed a two-year federal prison term in October 2025 following his earlier guilty plea. In December 2025, he formally surrendered to authorities at the Federal Prison Camp located in Yankton, South Dakota, to begin his custodial term. He was released from the facility in September 2026 after serving approximately nine months, having qualified for a program that enabled an earlier exit from custody. He is scheduled to serve out the remaining duration of his sentence under supervised release.
Return to Missouri Homestead and Family Operations
Following his release in September 2026, McBee returned to his family farm in Gallatin, Missouri, where he resumed his personal and professional life. His son, Steven McBee Jr., had publicly tracked the custody timeline earlier in July 2026, noting that his father was expected home in under two months and had anticipated potential placement in home confinement. The family subsequently marked the end of the custodial term upon his return.
Public remarks shared by the television personality on social media on September 12 reflected appreciation for his release, where he acknowledged personal blessings and expressed gratitude for simple comforts. Steven McBee Jr. also spoke positively about the family reuniting on the farm, stating that they were eager to move forward together. McBee Sr. later showcased a newly renovated farm office equipped with updated furniture and a coffee bar, an adjustment arranged by his family as a welcome surprise during his absence.
Resolution of Financial Liabilities Under Federal Agreement
The settlement adds significant pecuniary penalties to McBee’s completed prison term, formalizing the recovery of public resources disbursed through federal agricultural programs. Authorities emphasized that the enforcement actions underscore federal commitments to safeguard agricultural insurance initiatives from unlawful claims.
While McBee has re-established his daily routine in Missouri and resumed involvement with his farming enterprise, his primary legal requirement remains compliance with the court-mandated payment schedule. The agreement binds him to clear the full ₹64 crore obligation across the designated 10-month window while maintaining full adherence to all conditions set down for his ongoing supervised release.
