In a major technical crackdown, police in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district have dismantled an illegal SIM box setup operating out of a local commercial establishment, arresting two individuals and seizing a substantial cache of telecommunications hardware. The joint raid, executed at the premises of BV Enterprises by the Cyber Crime Police, the Special Operations Group, the district surveillance wing, and officials from the Department of Telecommunications, resulted in the recovery of eight SIM boxes, 221 operational SIM cards, 96 radio antennas, five laptops, and a dedicated Dell server. Investigators suspect the clandestine infrastructure functioned as an unauthorised call centre designed to mask outgoing communications, intimidate citizens under the pretext of loan recovery, and facilitate broader cyber fraud networks across the region.

Technical Analysis Triggers Targeted Raid

The breakthrough materialized after cyber intelligence units initiated a forensic examination of 31 suspicious mobile numbers flagged for fraudulent communications. Analysis of call patterns and transmission data originating from these numbers pointed investigators directly to the BV Enterprises facility in Agra. The arrested suspects, identified as Aamir Saifi and Manish, were allegedly running an illicit routing hub capable of handling massive volumes of automated voice traffic. While the presence of the equipment indicates an organized setup, police officials noted that the complete scope of the enterprise, its victim base, and the exact financial transactions routed through the hardware remain under active investigation.

High-Capacity Hardware Used to Mask Communications

Among the seized hardware, technicians identified at least one SIM box equipped with 32 individual card slots, enabling dozens of cellular lines to run simultaneously through an integrated server environment. Unauthorised SIM box arrays permit operators to convert international or voice-over-internet-protocol calls into local cellular traffic, effectively bypassing legal telecom gateways and evading standard law enforcement surveillance. Investigators are currently coordinating with telecommunications service providers to identify which networks were routed through the hardware and to map the complete register of outgoing calls linked to the recovered SIM cards.

Inquiry Expands to Procurement Channels and Inter-District Links

A primary focus of the continuing probe centres on how the suspects managed to procure and activate over two hundred SIM cards without triggering mandatory regulatory alerts. Officers are interrogating both accused individuals to determine whether point-of-sale vendors violated verification norms during the registration phase. Furthermore, preliminary intelligence suggests that an associated branch office linked to the enterprise may be operating in a neighbouring district, prompting authorities to widen their surveillance perimeter. The recovered server, laptops, and networking peripherals have been forwarded to forensic laboratories for extraction of call logs and encrypted files, as proceedings continue under a formal case registered at the Agra Cyber Crime Police Station.
