2,946 People from Uttar Pradesh, 740 from Gorakhpur Go Missing Abroad; Home Ministry Takes Action

Lucknow: A total of 2,946 people from Uttar Pradesh who traveled abroad on visitor visas have not returned. Among them, 106 individuals are from Lucknow. This revelation came to light following the proactive efforts of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). As part of the investigation, four cases have been registered against agents involved in sending people abroad in cities like Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Deoria, and Amethi.

Victims of Cyber Fraud Abroad

According to the MHA’s report, many individuals have been forced into cyber fraud activities in countries like Cambodia, Vietnam, and Myanmar. Following these revelations, the Uttar Pradesh Police have intensified their investigation.

Highest Missing Cases in Gorakhpur

The maximum number of missing individuals, 740, are from Gorakhpur. Deoria has reported 369 cases, Noida 251, Lucknow 106, Ghaziabad 200, Kanpur 58, Azamgarh 80, Varanasi 32, and Barabanki 11. Among these, 51 individuals have recently returned.

Monitoring Authorized and Unauthorized Agents

ADG Cyber Crime BK Singh stated that Uttar Pradesh has 75 authorized and 431 unauthorized agents active in sending people abroad. District police have been directed to verify and take action against them. Out of the 2,946 missing individuals, 527 are women and 2,419 are men. So far, the verification of 800 individuals has been completed.

Major Cases in Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia

Around 2,000 individuals who traveled to Thailand have not returned. Additionally, 400 people are unaccounted for in Vietnam, 230 in Cambodia, and 82 in Myanmar.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued alerts to all states, urging strict action against agents involved in sending people abroad and heightened vigilance to prevent such incidents.
