Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh — In a troubling development that points to recurring patterns of real estate fraud, a 213th FIR has been registered against Ansal Company at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow. This time, the accused firm stands accused of duping a woman from Varanasi of ₹18.97 lakh under the pretext of selling her a residential plot—a promise that was never fulfilled.
The victim, Renu Singh, a resident of Tagore Town in Varanasi, stated in her complaint that she had approached the company several years ago in hopes of purchasing a plot in the capital city. The firm, which maintains an office on Rana Pratap Marg in Lucknow, allegedly took ₹18.97 lakh from her and issued documents suggesting a plot had been booked in her name.

However, despite repeated attempts over the years, Renu neither received possession of the plot nor any refund. “After a long wait, it became clear the company was not acting in good faith,” she said. To her shock, she later found that Ansal had allegedly used unauthorized maps and fictitious planning layouts to lure multiple customers.
According to Renu, when she tried to reclaim her money by contacting the company’s owner and senior officials, they allegedly began to delay and ignore her requests. After being stonewalled in Varanasi, where she initially tried to file a complaint, she finally registered a case in Lucknow.
Inspector Vikram Singh, who is investigating the case, confirmed that the matter is under detailed inquiry and further action will be taken based on evidence and witness statements.
“Investigation is ongoing. If the allegations are substantiated, legal action will follow,” he said.
The incident has stirred renewed concern among homebuyers and consumer rights advocates, especially given that this is the 213th complaint against the same company. Critics are now calling for a comprehensive regulatory and judicial review of repeat offenders in the real estate sector.
