Woman Who Tried Selling Her Kidney Online Cheated Of Rs 2.2 Lakh

BENGALURU : Cyber criminals are not even leaving those who are in dire need of money. Online con artists defrauded a 35-year-old woman who tried to sell her kidney of Rs 2.2 lakh. A resident of Balaji Layout in Hongasandra, Bengaluru has filed a complaint with the cybercrime police after she was cheated by a scammer.

Her complaint stated that she was having financial difficulties and therefore wanted to sell her kidney. However, since she didn’t know who to contact, she looked it up online. On January 31, she came across a phone number on a website and dialled it.

“A woman on the other side introduced herself as Nirmala Das and told me that she would arrange for a recipient. She also demanded that I pay different fees, such as donor fees and insurance fees. I transferred a total of Rs 2.20 lakh to the bank account numbers she given via multiple transactions,” the complainant said.

She alleged that after March 17, Das stopped answering her calls. The police has started a probe into the matter.
