A controversy has emerged at Can Fin Homes, a leading housing finance company, after a whistleblower accused a senior General Manager of serious malpractices in recruitment. The allegations include document manipulation and coercion of subordinates, raising questions about the organization’s internal practices and governance.

On October 26, 2024, the company’s Managing Director, Suresh Srinivasan Iyer, and Deputy Managing Director, Vikram Saha, received an email from the whistleblower detailing these alleged wrongdoings. The whistleblower accused the General Manager of manipulating official documents to favor certain individuals during the hiring process. Furthermore, the complaint highlighted undue pressure exerted on subordinates, allegedly to achieve personal or unethical objectives.

The situation took a dramatic turn within hours of the complaint. The whistleblower was handed a transfer order, directing them to relocate to a branch in Hyderabad. The irony of the situation was that the transfer order was issued by the same General Manager implicated in the allegations. This prompted the whistleblower to claim the transfer as a retaliatory measure for raising concerns about the misconduct.

The letter elaborated on the allegations and called for immediate action to address the malpractices. It also emphasized that the whistleblower’s transfer was an attempt to silence them.

NDTV Profit, which has reviewed the whistleblower’s letter, confirmed its authenticity. The report has drawn attention to the challenges faced by whistleblowers in corporate environments, particularly the potential risks of retaliation.

This scandal has sparked widespread discussions about corporate accountability, ethical hiring practices, and the importance of protecting whistleblowers from retribution.
