Popular messaging platform WhatsApp is set to roll out a new feature for children under the age of 13. The “Parental-Managed Account” feature will allow parents to control and oversee their child’s WhatsApp account, ensuring a safer online experience.
Reports suggest the feature is specifically designed for younger users. Children’s accounts will be directly linked to their parents’ accounts, allowing parents to monitor who their child is chatting with, which groups they join, and which contacts are added to their list.
Parents Can Control Chats and Groups
With this feature, parents will have several controls at their disposal. They can decide who can message their child, which contacts can be added to the child’s list, and which groups the child is allowed to join. The primary goal is to provide a safe digital environment and prevent contact with unknown individuals.
Some Features Restricted for Kids
The new system will also place restrictions on children’s accounts. Reports indicate that certain advanced features will be unavailable to children, including status updates, channels, and Meta AI-related functions. This is intended to create a controlled and secure digital environment for young users.

Suspicious Messages Under Parental Oversight
The system will include additional safety measures. Any messages from unknown or suspicious senders will be routed to a separate folder. Parents can review these messages and block senders if needed.
