Lucknow | The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a strict stand on administrative discipline and financial transparency by dismissing Minority Welfare Department Joint Director Sheshnath Pandey from service. He was accused of serious financial irregularities, misconduct, and violation of government service rules. The action was taken based on an investigation report and supporting documentary evidence. The government has also declared him ineligible for any future government employment.

According to sources, a detailed departmental investigation found 14 of the 15 allegations levelled against Pandey to be substantiated. During the inquiry process, the officer’s explanation, the investigation report, and relevant documents were thoroughly examined. Following this, the disciplinary action procedure was completed with the consent of the State Public Service Commission. The government had sent the case to the commission on February 23, 2026, and after receiving approval for punishment on February 28, the dismissal order was issued with the approval of the Governor.

The investigation revealed that Pandey was involved in financial irregularities. It is alleged that he granted financial approval in a case related to a madrasa for the reinstatement of a person whose service had already been terminated, without issuing a valid reappointment order. This resulted in a situation where salary payments were made to two individuals against a single post, raising concerns about potential financial loss to the state exchequer.

The inquiry also found that the officer acted beyond his jurisdiction by issuing decisions outside his authority. In several instances, he allegedly ignored judicial orders and passed directives contrary to established rules, which was considered an attempt to provide undue advantage. These actions were deemed a violation of the Uttar Pradesh Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1956.

Government officials stated that the state administration is following a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and financial misconduct. The action is seen as part of this policy. Authorities believe that maintaining transparency and accountability in governance requires strict measures in such cases.

During the departmental inquiry, it was also found that proper record maintenance was not followed in some cases, and there were attempts to conceal important facts. The inquiry committee noted that the officer’s decisions adversely affected administrative functioning and violated official regulations.

Sources within the government said this action sends a strong message to other officials that administrative negligence or misconduct will not be tolerated. In future, disciplinary actions against officers found guilty will continue based on inquiry reports.

Administrative experts said that public servants must strictly follow legal and regulatory provisions while performing official duties. Any financial or administrative irregularity not only affects the governance system but also weakens public trust.

The government has further stated that monitoring and review mechanisms will be strengthened to ensure transparency in departmental functioning. Officials said there would be no compromise in corruption-related cases and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
