An FIR has been filed in Meerut against Uttar Pradesh Police Inspector Nargis Khan for possessing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income. Currently posted in Bareilly, Khan had a powerful stint during the Samajwadi Party government, frequently enjoying top postings across key police stations in western Uttar Pradesh.
Her husband, Suresh Kumar Yadav, a businessman with known political connections, has also come under the scanner. Yadav reportedly claimed proximity to a senior Samajwadi Party leader and styled himself as the politician’s OSD. Their massive wealth, now revealed through official records, spans across five cities and includes multiple luxury vehicles, commercial properties, bars, petrol pumps, and farmland—raising serious questions about the source of their income.

The ₹90 Crore Asset Trail
According to the FIR and property details accessed by investigators, the couple holds over two dozen prime properties in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi-NCR. Some of the key assets include:
- A ₹5 crore mansion in Shastri Nagar, Meerut registered jointly in their names.
- A ₹10 crore bar and commercial complex with eight shops on Garh Road, Meerut under Suresh Yadav’s name.
- Two petrol pumps—one in Bareilly and another on Badaun Road—worth over ₹7 crore collectively.
- Multiple flats in Noida, Ghaziabad, and Lucknow, including a full apartment building in the state capital.
- Landholdings in Kanpur Dehat, totaling more than 40 bighas, including properties purchased from Scheduled Caste individuals—raising potential legal and ethical concerns.
- An estimated ₹3 crore worth of luxury vehicles parked at their Bareilly residence.
- Two flats in Dehradun’s upscale Dalanwala area.
- Retail and residential assets in Meerut, including shops in Suryanagar and Lal Kurti areas.
The total estimated value of their assets exceeds ₹90 crore, an amount wildly disproportionate to the official salary and earnings of a mid-level police officer and her businessman spouse.
Political Cloud and Legal Action
Inspector Nargis Khan’s rise during the Samajwadi Party regime and her husband’s claimed political affiliations have reignited debates on the nexus between politics and bureaucracy in Uttar Pradesh. Sources say her postings to prime urban police stations in western UP were facilitated by political backing.
The FIR, filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), includes charges of criminal misconduct, forgery, and acquisition of disproportionate assets. Officials involved in the investigation are also probing the couple’s income tax records, bank transactions, and property registration documents.
The state government has reportedly taken serious note of the findings, and departmental action against Khan is being considered. Authorities are also exploring whether benami transactions and shell companies were used to acquire certain properties.
This case comes as part of a larger crackdown by the Yogi Adityanath-led administration on corruption and black money within the police force and other government departments.
