Lucknow: The investigation into an alleged fake and illegally manufactured drug network in Uttar Pradesh has now extended to Madhya Pradesh, with investigators tracing suspected links to a pharmaceutical facility in Ujjain.
Following leads that emerged during the investigation into a case registered in Lucknow, a joint team of the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) and police reached Ujjain and conducted an operation in coordination with the local drug administration, Ayush Department and police. The action reportedly uncovered a suspected interstate manufacturing and supply network involving unauthorised medicines.
Ujjain Pharma Unit Raided During Probe
The joint team raided M/s Rudraya Pharma, located at A-88, New Industrial Area, Agra Road, Ujjain. Firm operator Prem Malik and his son Rahul Malik alias Rithik were reportedly present at the premises during the operation.
Officials examined the firm’s licence, manufacturing activities and medicine-related records. Preliminary scrutiny allegedly revealed a mismatch between the licence held by the firm and the pharmaceutical activities being carried out at the facility.
Ayurvedic Licence Allegedly Used to Manufacture Allopathic Drug
According to the investigation, Rudraya Pharma held a licence to manufacture Ayurvedic medicines, but was allegedly manufacturing the allopathic drug Levera-500 at the same premises.
Officials are examining whether the firm had the required authorisation to manufacture the allopathic medicine and are investigating how long the alleged activity had been taking place.
The probe is also looking into the source of raw materials and other resources used in the alleged production process, as well as the firms and individuals involved in supplying and distributing the medicines.

4.80 Lakh Levera-500 Tablets Allegedly Dispatched to Haridwar
Preliminary questioning and examination of records reportedly indicated that approximately 4.80 lakh Levera-500 tablets had allegedly been manufactured at the Ujjain facility.
The tablets were reportedly packed into around 32,000 strips and dispatched to Haridwar.
The alleged movement of such a large quantity has prompted investigators to examine whether the Ujjain facility was operating as part of a wider interstate supply network rather than for local distribution alone.
Authorities are examining the alleged consignment, including its recipient, transportation arrangements and any other firms or individuals involved in moving the medicines.
Investigators are also trying to establish whether the alleged Haridwar supply is directly connected to the fake drug case under investigation in Uttar Pradesh. Records linked to the consignment could provide further leads into the wider network.
Lucknow Investigation Leads Authorities to Ujjain
The Ujjain operation reportedly followed leads developed during the investigation into the fake drug case registered in Lucknow.
As investigators in Uttar Pradesh examined the alleged manufacturing and distribution chain, links to a facility in Ujjain reportedly emerged. Authorities subsequently coordinated with officials in Madhya Pradesh before conducting the joint operation.
Investigators are now examining how an Ayurvedic-licensed firm was allegedly used to manufacture an allopathic medicine and whether other individuals or businesses facilitated the activity.
Manufacturing, packaging, transportation and distribution records are being scrutinised to establish the complete chain. Authorities may also examine financial transactions and other business records associated with the firm, its alleged suppliers and recipients.
Probe Expands Into Interstate Drug Supply Chain
The operation in Ujjain has widened the scope of the investigation into the alleged fake and unauthorised drug trade in Uttar Pradesh.
Authorities are examining whether multiple manufacturing and distribution points across states were being used to produce, package and supply medicines. The investigation now involves alleged links between Uttar Pradesh, Ujjain and Haridwar, with officials working to identify the full supply chain.
Investigators are expected to examine the role of other firms and individuals connected with the alleged network, while also verifying the authenticity and regulatory status of the medicines and documents examined during the operation.
Further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation and verification of the evidence collected by the authorities.
