That Credit Card Limit Increase Call Can Take Away All Your Money
New Delhi: Any call from telle caller executives to increase your credit limit or redeem your credit card point can zero your account balance. Cybercriminals are using innovative scripts to dupe gullible customers.
In a recent case fraudsters posing as an executive of RBL bank is calling its customers and cheating them by offering increased credit card limit. In a complaint received from Lucknow resident Prabhash Kumar Maurya, he alleged that on June 3 he got a call from an executive from RBL bank who identified himself as Manish. He had all his banking and credit card details so Maurya thought he was getting a genuine call. The executive offered to increase his credit limit from Rs 50,000 to a lakh. The executive confirmed all the banking details and then asked for an OTP to increase his limit but Maurya ended up losing Rs 16,160. The amount was used on a platform – No broker rent payment.
Maurya’s woes didn’t end here as a day later he again received a call from a new agent who said his name was Aditya Neg and was again trying to cheat him. Maurya who was also cheated once immediately disconnected the call. Maurya has informed the bank and police about the latest fraud.
Police have started the investigation and claim that these cybercriminals must have got access to bank customers’ database and now posing as bank executive are trying to get their secret pin and siphon off their money.
