In a dramatic airport interception at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, immigration authorities broke up an elaborate visa fraud. The arrest of a Thai national, Thongphun Chayapha—traveling under the alias Darin Chokthanpat—uncovered a sophisticated web of deception involving multiple fake passports.

Three Passports, Multiple Identities

Officials discovered three distinct passports, along with forged Thai identity cards, boarding documents, and two mobile phones. Thongphun had previously entered India in 2024 but was blacklisted due to prior visa violations. Undeterred, she re-entered the country again in July 2025 using fraudulent documentation and has been staying illegally in Lucknow.

Local facilitator Jaswinder Singh—who allegedly arranged both accommodation and forged documents—has also been arrested. Two others—Navendu Mittal and Shuvendu Nigam—are on the run. An FIR has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including forgery, cheating, conspiracy, and fraudulent identity; charges under the Foreigners Act relate to visa violations and illegal stay.

Heightened Vigilance in Immigration Enforcement

This arrest underscores growing concerns over identity manipulation and repeated infractions by blacklisted travelers. By coordinating across intelligence, immigration, and police agencies, authorities effectively flagged, intercepted, and prosecuted the suspect—demonstrating robust mechanisms now in place at entry points. Officials stress that repeated attempts to enter on false credentials will face swift legal consequences.
