Police in Singapore have launched an investigation into a local recruitment firm suspected of luring job-seekers into a fraudulent scheme tied to a resort in Cambodia. The company is alleged to have promised lucrative hospitality jobs, only for victims to find themselves trapped in scam operations once they arrived.

The Recruitment Ruse
According to the police, the firm posted job advertisements offering positions in a Cambodian resort, touting high salaries, accommodation, and employment benefits. Once applicants accepted and travelled, they discovered that the jobs were fake. Many were coerced into illegal work, asked to produce scamming content, or forced into loan traps with heavy interest. Victims say they were moved to isolated locations and denied the ability to leave.
Investigators believe the firm used convincing marketing materials, forged documents, and controlled movement to keep victims subdued. Some also alleged they were compelled to join online fraud operations linked to the resort, including romance scams, money laundering, or phishing.
Police Response & Next Steps
Singapore’s police have begun filing statements, identifying victims, and tracing the firm’s operational links to Cambodia. Authorities are coordinating with Cambodian law enforcement to get clarity on the resort’s involvement and possible safe houses used by the syndicate. The Singapore firm’s offices have reportedly been raided as part of the inquiry.
