Shopping App Myntra To Change Its Logo After NGO Files Complaint Calling It ‘Insulting & Offensive Towards Women’

Online shopping platform – Myntra is forced to change its company logo from all digital properties and packing materials after a complaint was lodged with the Mumbai Cyber police alleging it to be insulting and offensive towards women.

According to the officials, the complaint was filed by Mumbai based activist – Naaz Patel of NGO Avesta Foundation in December last year. In the complaint, the NGO demanded the removal of the logo by Myntra and appropriate action against the firm.

Patel had also taken up the matter in various forums and platforms on social media.

“We found that the logo was offensive in nature for women. Following the complaint, we sent an email to Myntra and their officials came and met us. The officials said they will change the logo in a month’s time,” said DCP Rashmi Karandikar, Cyber Crime Department of Mumbai police.

Following all the demand over changing the logo, the e-commerce giant has decided to change the company’s logo. The new design will be soon seen on their website, their app and on packaging material. Myntra has already issued printing orders for packaging material with the new logo. The official of the company has said that the revision of the logo can take a month’s time.

Myntra is one of the largest online retailers for clothes and accessories in India. A logo acts as a medium of communication between the company and its target customers and is an important factor in branding.
