Mumbai, Oct., 2025 — Bollywood couple Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have hit a roadblock in their plans for a luxurious Phuket getaway. The Bombay High Court on Wednesday denied their plea to suspend the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against them in connection with a ₹60 crore fraud case linked to their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt. Ltd.

Holiday Plans Halted

The duo had scheduled a short vacation in Phuket from October 2 to 5, with flights and hotels already booked. The court’s decision abruptly canceled their much-anticipated trip.

Lawyers Argue Past Compliance

Advocates Niranjan Mundargi and Keral Mehta told the court that Shetty and Kundra had traveled abroad multiple times despite the ongoing case and always returned to India to cooperate with investigators. They requested the same consideration for this trip.

Court Stays Firm

Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam A. Ankhad were unconvinced, directing the Public Prosecutor to file a detailed response.

More International Trips on the Horizon

The petition also highlighted several upcoming overseas trips, including Los Angeles, Colombo, the Maldives, Dubai, and London. The couple cited both personal and business reasons, including the expansion of their hospitality venture, Hotel Bastian.

Background of the Case

The fraud case, filed by Deepak Kothari of UY Industries Pvt. Ltd., alleges he was misled into investing in Best Deal TV Pvt. Ltd. between 2015 and 2023. Kothari claims he provided ₹60.48 crore as a loan and that Shilpa Shetty personally guaranteed the deal. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is actively investigating.

Experts say the court’s decision reflects a careful balance between individual rights and the integrity of ongoing investigations. Shetty and Kundra remain innocent under the law until proven guilty.
