Scammers Arrested in Indigo-Shine.com Call Center Fraud, Impersonating Indigo Representatives

Kanpur Cyber Crime Police have arrested two individuals involved in a job scam, where they defrauded people by promising employment at IndiGo Airlines. The accused, Abhishek Singh and Rajnath Singh, tricked victims by falsely offering jobs in airline ticketing and collected registration fees and other charges. The fraudsters accessed data from job portals like Shine.com and targeted job seekers looking for employment. They have been framed under sections 318(4) and 338 of BNS and section 66D of the IT Act, 2000.

Modus Operandi
The perpetrators operated through a fake call center, posing as representatives of IndiGo Airlines. They set up a fraudulent website and email, Indigorelations.in, to mislead victims into believing they were applying for legitimate jobs. After obtaining personal documents from the victims, they issued fake offer and joining letters from IndiGo, gaining the trust of their targets. The accused would then repeatedly demand money under the guise of registration fees and other job-related expenses.

Arrest and Seizure
Abhishek Singh and Rajnath Singh were arrested by the Kanpur Cyber Crime Police. During the arrest, police seized several electronic devices, including a Vivo mobile phone, an iPhone 15, and a OnePlus Nord CE2. The accused were found to have committed similar frauds across various states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

Team Led By
The arrest was carried out by a team led by Inspector Parvez Ali, along with other officers of the Kanpur Cyber Crime Police unit.

Police Station Name
The investigation and arrests were handled by the Cyber Crime Police Station, Kanpur Nagar.
