Expert Warnings on Rising Cyber Fraud in Job Scams

Experts are warning youths to remain cautious about cyber and online fraud. Renowned cybercrime expert and former IPS officer Prof. Triveni Singh said, “Fraud under the guise of overseas jobs usually involves social engineering and fake documents. Young people must verify any offer carefully and avoid sending money without credible sources.”

This incident adds to the rising cases of overseas job scams in Ambedkarnagar and nearby districts. In recent years, youth have been defrauded of crores of rupees through similar scams promising jobs in Saudi Arabia, Russia, Canada, and other countries. These schemes typically involve fake joining letters, counterfeit passports, and online payments.

Police Probe into Azamgarh-Jaunpur Fraud Ring Continues

Villagers and youth from smaller towns are often targeted. Scammers gain trust via social media, WhatsApp groups, and personal contact. They then extract money under the pretext of visa fees, tickets, and other charges. According to the victims, the accused continued to mislead them with documents over several months before the fraud was discovered.

Authorities said that the investigation will trace the accused’s residences and digital transactions. Local officials have advised youths to verify any overseas job offer immediately and report suspicious cases to the police.

This case again highlights how the allure of overseas employment and haste in sending money can put youths at serious financial risk. Police are now actively working to arrest the accused and recover the victims’ money.
