Jaipur/Bhilwara: The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has uncovered a massive tax evasion racket, seizing evidence of Rs 700 crore GST fraud during raids at 15 locations across Rajasthan, including Bhilwara, Jaipur, Sikar, and Udaipur. The crackdown has sent shockwaves through the state’s scrap trading industry.

According to officials, the Jaipur Zonal Unit of DGGI conducted extensive searches and found records of 13 lakh tons of iron and steel goods being supplied without proper tax compliance. The estimated market value of these goods stands at Rs 4,000 crore. Following the raids, seven individuals were arrested from various locations on Wednesday, including three from Bhilwara.

Iron Goods Sold Without GST

Authorities revealed that several firms engaged in iron goods manufacturing were illegally selling products without GST. Acting on intelligence, officials conducted discreet investigations before compiling a list of factories, warehouses, and godowns linked to the fraudulent activities. Subsequently, coordinated raids were carried out, leading to multiple arrests.

Among those taken into custody are Ghasilal Chaudhary from Jaipur, Kesardev Sharma from Sikar, and scrap dealer Arun Jindal from Udaipur and Bhilwara. Additionally, two individuals involved in the transportation of goods were also apprehended.

The GST evasion network is suspected to have links beyond Rajasthan, extending into Haryana and Punjab. Investigations indicate that the accused operated through fake companies to supply iron and steel products while bypassing tax regulations.

Authorities are continuing their probe to uncover further details of this large-scale fraud.
