HYDERABAD: Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer RP Singh has been detained by officials of the Central Crime Station (CCS) in Hyderabad over his alleged involvement in a land fraud case tied to a stalled commercial development project in Khajaguda, under the jurisdiction of Raidurgam Police Station.

According to police sources, Singh, along with his wife Harvinder Singh, is accused of concealing key ownership disputes related to a prime parcel of land which had been earmarked for a major commercial complex. The land was originally handed over to a construction company under a development agreement, but a subsequent internal verification revealed complications, including a gift deed in their daughter’s name, which was later cancelled.

700 Investors Left in Limbo After Project Collapse

At the time of project launch, over 700 customers had already booked units in the commercial complex. However, due to the legal ambiguity surrounding the land title and the non-disbursal of loans, the project was stalled indefinitely, causing massive financial and emotional distress to hundreds of investors.

Following a formal complaint lodged by the construction firm in 2023, the case was initially registered at Raidurgam Police Station and later transferred to the CCS for further investigation. Authorities say the concealment of the cancelled gift deed misled the developers and investors, making it a case of deliberate suppression of material facts.

The CCS Hyderabad has officially registered a case and detained RP Singh for questioning. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the full scope of the fraud and identify if other individuals or entities were complicit in the concealment and subsequent marketing of the disputed land.

Authorities have urged real estate investors to exercise due diligence and conduct independent legal verification of land titles before entering into any agreements, especially in large-scale projects.
