Bengaluru: State protocol officer Basavaraj Ibblur has admitted to granting protocol privileges to arrested actress Ranya Rao, following instructions from her stepfather, Dr. K Ramachandra Rao. The admission came during questioning by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), shedding light on alleged misuse of official privileges.
Green Channel Access Arranged
According to Basavaraj’s statement, Ranya Rao called him after landing at Kempegowda International Airport at 6:30 PM on Monday. Shortly after, her stepfather instructed the protocol officer to arrange green channel clearance, a privilege typically reserved for high-ranking officials and dignitaries.

Government Scrutiny and Potential Action
In response to these revelations, Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, who has been appointed to probe Ramachandra Rao’s involvement, is expected to issue a notice to the Director General of Police (DGP) for an official explanation. The ongoing investigation could lead to further repercussions for those involved.

Amid the controversy, speculation is rife that the DGP might be asked to go on compulsory leave until the probe is concluded.
