Noida: In a major development, the Income Tax Department has conducted a raid on the Noida residence of former IAS officer Rakesh Bahadur. The raid follows an investigation into alleged business dealings between Bahadur and the real estate firm M.I. Builders. According to sources, the authorities acted swiftly after obtaining search warrants and recovered documents detailing movable and immovable assets worth several crores.

The raid took place at Bahadur’s villa in Noida’s Jaypee Greens Township, where a team of officials examined the premises in the presence of police officers. The investigation is focused on financial ties between Bahadur and M.I. Builders, with assets valued at over Rs 100 crore already under scrutiny. The investigation into these assets is expected to uncover even more substantial figures, with officials gearing up for further revelations.

Meanwhile, in a parallel operation, the authorities are also questioning M.I. Builders’ director, Mohammad Qadir Ali, in relation to business relations with Bahadur. So far, both parties have been cooperating with the investigation, and the documents recovered may lead to the identification of further irregularities. The investigation team is said to be verifying the authenticity of the documents and examining any discrepancies.

In another raid on Lucknow’s Latouche Road, the IT department targeted three key businesses supplying construction materials to M.I. Builders. The raid revealed cash transactions worth crores and uncovered a large number of fake invoices, believed to be used for tax evasion.

Rakesh Bahadur, a former high-ranking IAS officer, had previously been implicated in the Noida land scam during his tenure under the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government. Despite investigations by the CBI and a High Court ruling, Bahadur was reinstated in Noida during the subsequent government. This new investigation may have broader implications for Bahadur’s political and business associations.

The Income Tax Department’s probe is ongoing, with more developments expected in the coming days as authorities continue to examine financial documents and links to other high-profile entities.
