The Rajasthan Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested Praveen alias Lala, the primary suspect in a high-profile double murder case dating back to 2010, after more than 15 years on the run. The arrest took place in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, following extensive surveillance and a tip-off to the police.
Revisiting a Decade-Old Crime
On July 29, 2010, Praveen, along with associates including Parsaram, Dalchand, and Bablu, broke into the home of District and Sessions Judge Rameshwar Dayal Rohilla in Kaman, Bharatpur. They opened fire, killing the judge’s father, Khemchand Rohilla, and brother, Girraj Prasad, while injuring others.
Praveen was on the CBI’s most-wanted list with a cash bounty of INR 5 lakh on his head. While two co-accused were arrested in 2012, Praveen and his brother remained at large—evading law enforcement for years.
A special team led by ADG (Crime) Dinesh M N and Additional SP Siddhant Sharma conducted a prolonged manhunt before a reliable intelligence lead in August 2025 prompted a swift raid at his Ghaziabad hideout. Posing under false identities with forged documents, Praveen was located and arrested in a calculated overnight operation.
A Breakthrough in Long-Pursued Justice
AGTF officials described the arrest as a “watershed moment” in solving a case that had haunted state law enforcement for over a decade. Interrogations are underway, and authorities have renewed their search for Praveen’s brother, Parsaram, who remains at large.
The case highlights both the tenacity of criminal elements in evading detection and the persistence of law enforcement over extended periods. As Rajasthan’s AGTF reasserts pressure on fugitive criminals, the arrest of Praveen—once a ghost—sets a precedent for accountability, no matter how delayed.
