In a major digital overhaul aimed at simplifying the travel experience for millions of passengers, Indian Railways will begin offering all categories of rail ticket bookings through its new super app RailOne starting March 1. As part of this transition, the long-running UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) mobile application will be phased out in stages.
Railway officials said the move is designed to consolidate multiple passenger services into a single digital platform, eliminating the need for separate applications for reserved and unreserved tickets. The RailOne app is being positioned as a one-stop digital solution for rail यात्रियों across the country.
According to the Railway Board, passengers will now be able to book unreserved (general) tickets as well as reserved tickets from the same app. Services currently offered through UTS for unreserved travel and online reservation facilities provided via IRCTC will both be integrated into RailOne, bringing ticketing under one unified interface.
To encourage a shift toward digital transactions, Railways has announced a direct discount of up to 3% on unreserved ticket bookings made through the RailOne app. This incentive will be available on bookings made between January 14 and July 14. Officials added that passengers who still have balance remaining in their old UTS wallet (R-Wallet) will be able to transfer the amount seamlessly to the new RailOne app without additional formalities.

Beyond ticketing: a complete travel companion
RailOne has been designed to go beyond ticket booking and function as a comprehensive travel companion for passengers. The app will offer real-time train tracking, coach position information, and e-catering services that allow passengers to order food during their journey. In addition, passengers can register complaints and seek assistance through the Rail Madad grievance redressal system directly from the app.
Railway officials said integrating these services on a single platform will reduce dependence on multiple apps and improve overall passenger convenience, particularly for frequent travellers and daily commuters.
Mobile ticketing gaining rapid ground
Data from the Railway Board over the past three years indicates a steady rise in mobile ticketing, especially in the unreserved segment. In 2023-24, digital ticketing accounted for around 15–18% of unreserved travel. This figure increased to 25–28% in 2024-25, reflecting growing acceptance of mobile platforms among passengers.
For the current financial year, Railways has set an ambitious target of raising the share of unreserved mobile ticketing to 40%, with RailOne expected to play a central role in achieving this goal.
Regions such as Southern Railway and the Mumbai suburban network have already reported mobile booking penetration exceeding 29%, which officials see as an indicator of the success of the digital transition.
Easy login with existing credentials
To ensure a smooth migration for users, RailOne allows passengers to log in using their existing IRCTC or UTS credentials. This means users will not be required to create a new account or remember additional passwords.
Passengers can download the RailOne app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and begin using it immediately with their current login details.
Railway officials said the introduction of RailOne is expected not only to simplify ticketing but also to accelerate digital adoption across the rail network. More passenger-centric services are planned to be added to the app in the coming months, with the aim of making RailOne the single digital gateway for all railway-related needs.
