Lucknow: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked two officers from the Military Engineering Services (MES) in Prayagraj after they were accused of demanding a bribe of ₹2.8 lakh. The bribe was reportedly demanded from a manpower supplier in exchange for processing the Letter of Acceptance related to a government contract.

According to the CBI, the accused officers are Ravi Singh, Garrison Engineer (West), and Vimal Kumar, Assistant Garrison Engineer (Contract). Both were involved in handling a manpower outsourcing tender under Bid No. GeM/2024/B/5664427.

CBI Confirms Allegations, FIR Registered Under New Laws

The complaint was filed by Pawan Kumar Tiwari, proprietor of a Delhi-based firm named Rudraksh Enterprises. He alleged that the officials asked for the bribe after his company’s bid was accepted.

CBI discreetly verified the claim and found that the accused had indeed demanded an illegal payment. Following this, an FIR was registered on March 28 under Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which pertains to criminal conspiracy, and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
