A disabled man in Pratapgarh has accused two people of taking money from him on the promise of securing a housing benefit.
What did the beneficiary allege?
Vishnu Pal, a resident of Chaurahi in Manikpur Nagar Panchayat, has complained to the District Magistrate alleging that money was taken from him in the name of securing benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Shahri Awas Yojana. He has sought an inquiry into the matter and action against those responsible.
Pal’s name is included in the scheme’s list at serial number 1446. According to his complaint, he is a person with a disability and is also financially weak. He had been hoping to receive a permanent house through the housing scheme.
He alleged that two people approached him in connection with the scheme and took money from him on the assurance that they would help him obtain its benefit. According to Pal, one person took ₹5,000 while another took ₹3,000.

Was he allegedly threatened over the scheme?
Pal alleged that when he did not provide further money, he was threatened that his name would be removed from the housing scheme.
Following this, he approached the District Magistrate and sought an impartial investigation into the allegations. He has also demanded that an FIR be registered against those found responsible and that steps be taken to ensure he receives the benefit of the housing scheme.
The complaint raises concerns over alleged demands for money from people seeking access to government welfare benefits. Pal has asked the district administration to examine his allegations and determine whether anyone improperly collected money by claiming they could secure approval under the scheme.
What has the administration said?
SDM Ajay Yadav said the matter was not yet in his knowledge. He added that once the complaint is received, the allegations will be investigated and action will be taken in accordance with the rules. No finding against the two people accused by Pal is mentioned, and the allegations remain subject to verification by the authorities.
The case is therefore at the complaint stage, with Pal seeking administrative intervention over the alleged payments and threat to remove his name from the scheme. The next step will depend on the inquiry promised after the complaint reaches the concerned official.
