The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has launched NPS Central, a unified digital platform allowing National Pension System (NPS) subscribers to manage pension accounts, investments and related services through a single interface.

What Is NPS Central?

Launched on October 1, 2026, coinciding with NPS Diwas, the platform brings together services offered by three Central Recordkeeping Agencies (CRAs): Protean, KFintech and CAMS.

The initiative aims to simplify access to pension services by reducing the need for subscribers to navigate separate systems for account management, investment information and other transactions.

How Can Subscribers Access the Platform?

Existing NPS subscribers can log in using their registered mobile number and date of birth, followed by one-time password authentication. The process does not require users to remember their Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN).

Once authenticated, subscribers can view their accounts, examine investment portfolios across CRAs and access pension-related services through a consolidated dashboard.

What Services Are Available?

NPS Central allows subscribers to contribute to existing pension schemes, explore investment options and compare scheme features, returns and charges.

Users can update personal information, download account statements and track contributions made through different payment methods.

The platform also provides access to the Pension Sahayak portal, where subscribers can raise grievances related to pension services.

How Will New Subscribers Benefit?

New subscribers can complete onboarding with AI-assisted support and identity verification facilities through Central Know Your Customer (CKYC) and DigiLocker.

An AI-enabled assistant is available to answer queries and guide users through investment options and registration.

After successful registration, subscribers receive their electronic PRAN and access to essential account services, subject to applicable terms and conditions.

The platform also provides access to NPS Swasthya, which combines a dedicated investment corpus with a super top-up health insurance arrangement.

What Features Are Planned Next?

PFRDA intends to expand the platform in phases, introducing changes to investment choices and pension funds, loans against NPS and systematic investment plan mandates

Planned additions include corporate onboarding, re-KYC facilities and services for NPS Tier II accounts. The platform is also expected to integrate with existing NPS ecosystem participants and digital service channels.

The420 Insight: Easier Access to Pension Accounts

NPS Central represents an effort to consolidate pension administration and improve accessibility for subscribers using different recordkeeping agencies.

Its effectiveness will depend on reliable account access, secure authentication and smooth integration with existing systems. Subscribers should use authorised channels and protect their login credentials while accessing pension services.
