PANVEL— In a coordinated effort to combat the flow of illegal narcotics, authorities have announced the arrest of a Nigerian woman at Panvel Railway Station. The woman was found with a substantial cache of illicit drugs.

The Arrest on the Mangla Express

The arrest took place on a recent morning aboard Train No. 12618, the Mangla Express. Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as Etumudon Doris. She was taken into custody at Panvel Railway Station, a key transit point for many long-distance trains. This operation was the result of precise intelligence and swift action by multiple agencies working together.

The Hidden Contraband: Millions in Narcotics

Upon searching Ms. Doris’s belongings, officers discovered a significant amount of illegal substances. The seized drugs included both cocaine and methamphetamine, two highly addictive and valuable narcotics. What caught the attention of the officers was the unusual way the drugs were hidden: not only in her general travel bag but also cleverly concealed within a Mickey Mouse-themed children’s bag. The total street value of the confiscated drugs is estimated to be a staggering  ₹36 crores on the international black market.

A Coordinated Effort by Law Enforcement

This successful arrest was not the work of a single agency but a testament to effective inter-agency cooperation. The operation involved a joint team comprising members from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Bangalore  known for its expertise in drug-related investigations, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Panvel, which secures railway premises, and the Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) of RPF Kurla, specializing in intelligence gathering. Their combined efforts allowed for the precise tracking and apprehension of the suspect, disrupting a potentially large drug delivery.

Ongoing Investigation and Next Steps

Following the arrest and seizure, Etumudon Doris is now facing serious charges related to drug trafficking. Authorities have stated that further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the network involved. This includes identifying other individuals who may be connected to the operation, tracing the origin of the drugs, and understanding their intended destination. The legal proceedings are expected to follow, with the aim of prosecuting those responsible for this illicit trade.
