An elderly resident of Sector 74 has allegedly lost ₹4.66 lakh after multiple unauthorised transactions were carried out from his bank account over two days.
The victim has told police that he did not share an OTP with anyone or knowingly provide another person access to his bank account. Investigators are now trying to determine how the transactions were authorised and whether his mobile phone or another digital channel was compromised.
How Was ₹4.66 Lakh Withdrawn?
According to the complaint, several unauthorised transactions were recorded between September 5 and 6, transferring money from the victim’s bank account to other accounts.
The elderly man discovered the transactions while checking his account activity.
He filed a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal on September 7. The matter was subsequently forwarded to the Cyber Crime Police Station and assigned to the Noida IT Cell for investigation.
No OTP Shared
The victim has maintained that he never disclosed an OTP to anyone.
He has also denied knowingly giving another person access to his bank account, making the method used to carry out the transactions a key focus of the investigation.
Police have not yet established exactly how the unauthorised transfers were initiated.

Was the Mobile Phone Compromised?
Investigators are examining the possibility that the victim’s mobile phone may have been compromised or tampered with.
The phone and related digital activity are being examined for possible clues about how access to the account may have been obtained.
However, police have not yet concluded that the fraud originated through the mobile phone. The exact method will depend on findings from digital evidence and banking records.
Where Did the Money Go?
Police are tracing the beneficiary accounts that received the ₹4.66 lakh.
Investigators are examining bank records, transaction timings and beneficiary details to determine whether the money was transferred directly to one account or routed through multiple accounts.
Tracing the complete transaction chain could help identify the people or accounts allegedly connected with the fraud.

What Are Police Checking?
Investigators are scrutinising each transaction through which money left the elderly man’s account.
They are also checking for suspicious activity involving his bank account or mobile phone before the unauthorised transactions occurred, including possible access attempts or other unusual digital activity.
The final destination of the funds and the exact mechanism used to carry out the alleged fraud remain under investigation.
The420 Takeaway: No OTP Does Not Mean No Risk
The case highlights why unauthorised transactions should be reported immediately even when no OTP has knowingly been shared. Customers should regularly check account activity and promptly report unfamiliar transactions to their bank and cybercrime authorities while preserving relevant messages and transaction records.
