Moradabad: Police in the Civil Lines Thana area of Moradabad have busted an organized honey trap gang and arrested six accused, including three women. The gang allegedly lured a property dealer to a house on the pretext of showing him a property, recorded an objectionable video, and later threatened to implicate him in a rape case. The accused reportedly demanded ₹3 lakh and managed to extort ₹60,000 from the victim.

According to police officials, the gang operated in a planned and systematic manner. Seeba alias Shania has been identified as the key member of the network. She allegedly used social media platforms and mobile calls to contact potential targets, gradually built rapport, and then persuaded them to meet in person.

SP City Kumar Ranvijay Singh said that the victim, Vikas Mehra, a resident of Ramganga Vihar Phase-1, works as a property dealer. His wife, Suchita Mehta, filed a complaint at the Civil Lines police station against three women and three men. In her complaint, she stated that in November 2025, Seeba alias Shania contacted her husband over the phone and began conversing with him. Over time, their interaction increased.

On February 24 at around 3:30 pm, the accused woman called Vikas to Jigar Colony on the pretext of showing him a property. From there, she took him to a two-storey house in Chakkar Ki Milak, claiming she needed to collect the keys. Police said that two to three individuals were already present inside the house.

Inside the room, the woman allegedly created an objectionable situation with the victim, while her accomplices secretly recorded videos and took photographs. The accused then threatened to make the video viral and file a rape case against him. They demanded ₹3 lakh in exchange for keeping the matter quiet.

Fearing legal trouble and social disgrace, the victim paid ₹60,000 to the accused. Later, he informed his wife about the incident, following which a formal complaint was lodged with the police.

After the FIR was registered, the Civil Lines police launched an investigation. On Sunday morning, a team led by SHO Manish Saxena, along with other officers, conducted raids and arrested the accused. Those arrested include Seeba alias Shania, Javed, his wife Nisha alias Isha, Wasim, Muskan, and Aman alias Aman.

Police officials stated that during interrogation, it emerged that the gang specifically targeted individuals by establishing contact through digital platforms. After gaining trust, they would call the victim to a private location, stage compromising situations, record videos secretly, and then blackmail the victim for money.

All six accused have been produced before the court and sent to jail. Police are now investigating whether the gang targeted other victims in a similar manner. Officials have appealed to the public to remain cautious while interacting with strangers on social media and to report any suspicious activity immediately to the authorities.
