Subsequently, Arun Vir Singh, CEO of YEIDA, issued the suspension order, emphasizing the authority’s strict stance against sexual harassment.

The POSH Act, enacted in 2013, aims to protect women from sexual harassment at their workplace. It mandates the formation of an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in every organization with more than ten employees to address complaints. The act defines sexual harassment in comprehensive terms, including unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature, and outlines procedures for filing and investigating complaints.
Before the POSH Act, the Vishaka Guidelines, set by the Supreme Court in 1997, provided a framework for addressing workplace sexual harassment. These guidelines were established following the Vishaka vs. State of Rajasthan case and laid down preventive measures, including the formation of complaints committees within organizations to handle cases of sexual harassment.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the critical need for robust internal mechanisms and legal frameworks to combat workplace harassment and foster a culture of respect and equality.
