Man Duped Of Rs 1.43 Cr For VIP Mobile Number

AHMEDABAD: A city resident was duped to the tune of Rs 1.43 crore on the pretext of a VIP mobile number. The cybercrime police have arrested Dhruvil, a resident of Nava Vadaj, who has been defrauding the complainant for the past two years.

The complainant informed authorities that he received a phone call and was assured that he could get a VIP number for his mobile phone connection. Dhruvil, the accused, demanded that he pay a processing charge.

The complainant has been paying payments for the previous two years, totaling more than a crore. Dhruvil even provided an invoice with the cellphone number and assured the complainant that the SIM card would be delivered.

Dhruvil even refunded Rs 11 lakh, claiming that the contribution was excessive, in order to win trust.

When the complainant did not receive the SIM card, he approached the cybercrime officers, according to police.
