“The students’ hostels and some residential quarters are part of the University’s first phase development work at Waranga,” stated Dr Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of MNLU in Nagpur.
“We received administrative approval in March 2021, but financial backing was critical. The High Power Committee reviewed the specifics and granted financial approval. It’s a huge relief for us. We thank the Maharashtra government, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut, and Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant for this decision,” Kumar added.
The issue has been pending for three months, and MNLU is now relieved. There will be 700 students in total, with 350 students in each of the two hostel buildings. Apart from hostels and residential quarters, there will be a bank where residents from local villages can use the services of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-N), which is part of Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU). 60 acres of land in Mauja Waranga had already been set aside for this purpose.
