What Is Love Gifting Scam

Once they have established a relationship with their victims, the fraudsters begin to request money from them under the pretext of buying expensive gifts or traveling to meet them in person. The victims are often told that these gifts are a symbol of the fraudster’s love and commitment, and are expected to reciprocate by sending money in return.

The scam is called a “love gifting” scam because the fraudsters use the guise of romance to deceive their victims into sending them money. Unfortunately, many victims fall prey to this type of fraud and end up losing significant sums of money before realizing they have been scammed.

To avoid falling victim to a love gifting scam, it is important to be cautious when communicating with strangers online, particularly if they ask for money or financial information. It is also important to research any potential love interests and to be wary of anyone who asks for money before meeting in person.
