Kanpur Cyber Police Busts International Job Scam: How Use of Fake Consultancies Duped Job Seekers

Kanpur Cyber Crime Police has busted an international cyber fraud gang that duped job seekers by promising overseas employment. The accused lured victims through fake consultancy websites and conducted fraudulent online interviews. Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the scam, which has affected thousands across India.

MODUS OPERANDI
The gang operated under the names ELITE GLOBAL CAREERS and OVERSEAS CONSULTANCY , using fraudulent websites to lure job seekers. They obtained resumes from job portals like Naukri.com and targeted individuals seeking high-paying jobs abroad.

Using VOIP call software (Zoiper5), they impersonated officials from foreign companies to conduct fake online interviews. Victims were asked to submit personal documents and pay verification fees ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 90,000, which were never refunded. The accused had subscribed to Naukri.com for Rs 2.47 lakh to access job-seeker data and systematically executed the fraud.

During the raid, police recovered: 03 Laptops, 09 Smartphones, 14 Keypad Phones, 08 Mobile SIM Cards, 01 Wi-Fi Router, 02 Bank Passbooks, 07 Debit Cards and 01 Hyundai Verna Car.

The investigation was led by Inspector Sunil Kumar Verma (Cyber Crime Police Station, Kanpur), with assistance from cybercrime and surveillance teams.
