RANCHI: The Criminal Investigation Department of Jharkhand has widened its inquiry into alleged irregularities in the 11th to 13th Jharkhand Public Service Commission Civil Services examinations, placing over a dozen successful candidates under official scrutiny. Investigators are preparing to summon these candidates for questioning to examine their potential connection to the alleged malpractices. The move follows recent questioning of key figures associated with the examination process, prompting the agency to review whether candidates secured appointments through irregular methods.

Questioning of Testing Agency Official Yields New Names

The focus shifted toward successful candidates after the CID questioned Krishna Kumar, a representative of ITI Limited, the agency engaged in conducting the recruitment examinations. Kumar’s interrogation reportedly produced the names of several selected candidates whose recruitments are now under review. Investigators are cross-referencing these names against previously gathered records, statements, and operational logs to assess whether formal action is necessary.

Officials emphasized that the mere appearance of a name during interrogation does not establish guilt. The CID is assessing individual evidentiary records before deciding whether legal steps are warranted. The current review seeks to establish whether procedural lapses occurred during testing and whether specific applicants received unlawful assistance.

Probe Weighs Interview Manipulation and Prior Arrests

The broader investigation also encompasses allegations of illicit cash collection and attempts to compromise the interview stage of the selection process. Earlier proceedings led to the arrest of Brajlal, who served as personal assistant to former JPSC member Ajita Bhattacharya.

Investigators are working to determine if the reported misconduct was confined to isolated transactions or formed part of an organized network operating within the recruitment framework. The agency is evaluating whether multiple candidates gained unfair advantage through manipulated viva voce assessments, testing whether standard institutional safeguards were systematically bypassed during the selection cycle.

Statements Under Scrutiny to Establish Wider Nexus

In tandem with disclosures from the ITI Limited representative, investigators are reviewing admissions attributed to Abhay Tiwari, which reportedly referenced newly appointed civil service officers. The CID is comparing these statements to evaluate whether the findings reveal a coordinated pattern of examination fraud.

The inquiry aims to determine precisely how the testing apparatus was compromised and whether appointments were secured through unlawful interventions. Those identified during the preliminary phases will be called to answer specific discrepancies between their examination records and testimonial evidence. The investigation remains in progress, and the CID maintained that all allegations remain subject to formal judicial verification.
