Noida:  A woman residing in Jaypee Wish Town Society, Sector-128, has filed a complaint against her IPS officer husband and six members of his family, alleging dowry harassment, physical assault, and mental cruelty. The complainant claimed that she was subjected to continuous harassment after marriage and accused her husband of being involved with other women.

Following her complaint, police at Sector-126 police station have registered a case against seven individuals and begun an investigation.

Spent ₹2 crore on the wedding

According to the complaint, the woman married IPS officer Shivanshu Rajput, a resident of Bengaluru, in December 2021. She stated that her family spent over ₹2 crore on the wedding, including jewelry, vehicles, and expensive gifts.

The complainant alleged that soon after the marriage, her husband’s behavior changed. He frequently argued with her and taunted her over dowry. Even after the birth of their son in September 2023, there was no improvement in his behavior.

Allegations of extramarital affairs

The woman further claimed that her husband maintained relationships with other women, and when she objected, he threatened to abandon her. She also alleged that her in-laws—including her father-in-law, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law mentally harassed her and repeatedly pressured her to bring more money and expensive gifts from her parents.

Complaint to DCP Women’s Safety

Unable to bear the harassment, the woman lodged a formal complaint with the DCP Women’s Safety, Gautam Buddh Nagar. After preliminary inquiry, the matter was handed over to Sector-126 police station for detailed investigation.

The Station House Officer (SHO) confirmed that a case has been registered against seven accused individuals based on the woman’s statement. “A thorough investigation is underway, and statements from all concerned parties are being recorded,” he said.

Evidence submitted; woman placed under protection

Police sources said the complainant has submitted chat transcripts, call recordings, and financial documents as evidence to support her claims. The authenticity of these materials is currently being verified. Given the sensitivity of the matter, the Women’s Safety Cell has also initiated a parallel inquiry.
