Cybersecurity in 2025 is no longer just about protecting networks; it’s about safeguarding trust in our systems and institutions. The State of Global Cyber Security 2025 highlights the rapid evolution of threats and emphasizes the need for resilience in the face of persistent and complex adversaries,” said Maya Horowitz, VP of Research at Check Point Software.

One of the most shocking incidents outlined in the report occurred in May 2024, when a massive breach exposed 500 GB of sensitive biometric data, including fingerprints and facial scans. The data, tied to police and public workers, was compromised during election season, exposing vulnerabilities in India’s critical systems.

The report further highlights how cybercriminals are refining their tactics, using fake videos and misinformation to create chaos, steal money, and even interfere in elections. Personal devices used for work are increasingly being targeted, with outdated systems exacerbating the risks. To combat these threats, experts are calling for urgent action from businesses and governments. Recommendations include securing personal devices, updating systems regularly, and fortifying weak points such as routers and internet connections. Strengthening cybersecurity measures is imperative to protect critical systems and maintain trust in India’s digital infrastructure.
