In 2025, India has repatriated over hundreds of youths from scam compounds in K K Park, Myawaddy.
The repatriation took place from Mae Sot airport of Thailand, while they were working in Myanmar.
The X post of Indian Embassy in Thailand states that “Indian Embassies in Thailand and Myanmar are working with respective host governments to secure repatriations of those Indians who were allegedly involved in scamming activities and are still in Myanmar”

There are two Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridges connecting the border towns of Mae Sot (Thailand) and Myawaddy (Myanmar) over the Moei River, which was used by all deportees to cross the river and untimately get back to home country via MaeSot airport.
Summing it up, it was a tri-party effort – India, Thailand and Myanmar – which resulted in the success.

China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam Unite against Scams

The scam compounds hosts citizens from across the world, as revealed in multiple raids. They exploit jurisdiction limitations to evade detection. In a recent development, China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Myanmar met on 14th November to establish international alliance with real time information exchange and joint repatriation.

A common goal “Citizen Safety and Protection from Scams” brings them all together, irrespective of their border disputes or personal differences. That’s a multi-lateral approach of transnational cybercrime against a common enemy.

Cooperation between China, Myanmar & Thailand has resulted in repatriation of 5500 Chinese nationals this year (2025)

A “Tri-Lateral” coordination mechanism established by China, Myanmar and Thailand has shown results; a repatriation of 5500 criminal suspects from KK Park.

Closing Thoughts – Transnational Cybercrime requires multi-lateral efforts

Taking inspiration from our ancient wisdom, which says in Sanskrit “संघे शक्ति: कलौयुगे – “Sanghe shakti kaliyuge” that translates to “In the age of Kali (or darkness), there is strength in unity”. It emphasizes that collective effort and organizational power are the most effective ways to achieve goals in the current era, where individual efforts may be less powerful.
