IIMT Collaborates with FCRF to Launch State-of-the-Art CoE for Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR)
IIMT College of Engineering, in partnership with the Future Crime Research Foundation, is set to inaugurate a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence in Digital Forensics & Incident Response on August 22nd. The Centre will offer both online and offline courses, with a focus on enhancing digital forensic skills and cybersecurity awareness. The event will also mark the launch of the Cyber Safe Uttar Pradesh initiative, furthering efforts to create a cyber-secure environment across the state. Prof. Triveni Singh, Ex-IPS, will serve as the Chief Mentor of the CoE-DFIR, bringing his extensive expertise to the forefront of this initiative.
Greater Noida, India — On August 22, 2024, IIMT College of Engineering, in collaboration with the Future Crime Research Foundation (FCRF), will inaugurate a cutting-edge Centre of Excellence in Digital Forensics & Incident Response (CoE-DFIR). This initiative, supported by the IIMT Ladder Business Foundation as the incubator partner, represents a major step forward in strengthening India’s cybersecurity infrastructure and education. The event will be held at IIMT Ladder Business Foundation, Plot No. 19, 20, near IIMT Group of Colleges, Knowledge Park III, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh 201310.
Inauguration and Chief Guest:
The inauguration will be honored by the presence of Mr. Dayashankar Singh, Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge), Government of Uttar Pradesh, who will serve as the Chief Guest. The event is expected to draw attendance from dignitaries across law enforcement agencies (LEAs), academia, research institutions, and the corporate sector.
Key Features of CoE-DFIR:
The Centre of Excellence will be a focal point for research, training, and innovation in digital forensics and incident response, addressing the urgent need for skilled professionals in this domain. Its primary objectives include:
– Global Capability Center: The CoE will serve as a global hub, offering cutting-edge research, training programs, and expert consultations in digital forensics and incident response.
– Comprehensive Training Programs: Both online and offline courses will be offered, allowing participants to gain essential skills in areas such as cybercrime investigation, network forensics, malware forensics, cloud forensics, and more. These courses are designed for law enforcement agencies, corporate professionals, and students.
– Advance State-of-the-Art DFIR Lab: The CoE will feature a 100-seater advanced DFIR lab equipped with the latest forensic tools and technologies. This lab will provide hands-on training in key areas like OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), e-discovery, and malware analysis.
– Showcase of New Cyber Forensic Tools: During the inauguration, the latest cyber forensic tools and technologies will be showcased, reflecting the CoE’s commitment to staying at the forefront of digital forensics.
Cyber Safe Uttar Pradesh Initiative:
Aligned with the inauguration of the CoE-DFIR, FCRF will also launch the ‘Cyber Safe Uttar Pradesh‘ initiative. This program is dedicated to building cybersecurity awareness and capacity across the state, ensuring that citizens and organizations are well-equipped to handle emerging digital threats. This initiative is a critical component of FCRF’s broader mission to create a cyber-safe India through education, training, and public outreach.
Certificate Ceremony:
In addition to the inauguration of the Centre of Excellence in Digital Forensics & Incident Response (CoE-DFIR), a certificate ceremony will be held for interns who have successfully completed the DFIR internship program over the past two months. This program, designed to equip participants with advanced skills in digital forensics and incident management, has provided invaluable hands-on experience through both online and offline courses. The certificate ceremony will recognize the hard work and achievements of these interns, celebrating their readiness to contribute to the field of cybersecurity.
Leadership and Mentorship:
The CoE-DFIR will be guided under the expert mentorship of Prof. Triveni Singh, Ex-IPS, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise in cybercrime and digital forensics. As the Chief Mentor of FCRF, Prof. Singh will oversee the training and research activities at the center, ensuring that participants receive world-class education and practical experience in handling digital forensic investigations.
