DEHRADUN:  The Uttarakhand High Court on Friday issued a contempt notice to the interim chairperson of IIM Kashipur for failing to comply with its October 1 directive to provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and vigilance clearance to an employee.

The court also issued a notice to the institute’s Chief Administrative Officer, Ajay Kumar Upadhyay, for the same reason.

The single bench, presided over by Justice Alok Verma, was hearing a petition filed by Vinay Sharma, an employee of IIM Kashipur. Sharma alleged that he was served a show-cause notice after raising concerns about corruption with the chairperson.

The notice accused him of accessing confidential information, including minutes from the faculty recruitment selection committee meeting, without proper authorisation.

Sharma, who had applied for the position of registrar at AIIMS Rajkot, required the NOC for his application process. During a previous hearing, the court confirmed that Sharma had been selected for the post and had already stayed the implementation of the disciplinary proceedings initiated by IIM Kashipur.

The court observed, “As the operation of the institute’s order has been stayed, the respondents cannot withhold the petitioner’s vigilance clearance.”

The case highlights ongoing tensions and governance challenges within the institute, with the High Court stepping in to ensure compliance with legal orders.
