IAS vs IPS: Court Verdict Revealed
A local court has accepted the Delhi Police’s closure report regarding a case in which an IAS officer had accused an IPS officer of misconduct. Chief Judicial Magistrate Anuj Kumar Singh dismissed the protest petition filed by the IAS officer against the closure report, citing a lack of “commonality” between the First Information Report (FIR) based on her complaint and the statement she provided in court.
The court noted that the allegations in the FIR and the statements given during the judicial proceedings appeared to concern different individuals. It further observed that the substantial changes in the complainant’s account over time were “discrediting and suspicious.”
The IAS officer’s initial complaint focused on receiving threatening calls and messages from an unknown number attempting to extract information. Later, while her statement was being recorded, she accused a senior IPS officer of sending inappropriate messages and asking her to meet in a secluded location. However, the court remarked that her original written and signed complaint made no reference to sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior, instead appearing to address routine work-related matters.
The police’s closure report concluded that the complainant had significantly altered her version of events. The officer’s legal team has indicated plans to challenge the decision by filing a revision petition in the Delhi High Court.
