A new cyber security initiative, “Haryana Digital Kavach”, has been introduced to strengthen cyber resilience, protect public data and improve the security of digital infrastructure across the state. The framework focuses on round-the-clock threat monitoring, rapid response to cyber incidents, compliance with security standards and periodic audits as more public services move to digital platforms.
Cyber security roadmap discussed
A state-level consultation workshop was organised in Chandigarh by the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communication in association with the Citizen Resources Information Department and with support from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The consultation examined a proposed cyber security framework for public institutions and digital services. The discussions focused on improving threat intelligence, strengthening incident response systems and ensuring regular assessment of cyber risks across departments.
Government networks and public data in focus
The initiative is intended to improve the security of digital networks and strengthen protection of citizens’ personal information. It also seeks to enhance preparedness against emerging cyber threats as digital systems become increasingly central to administration and public service delivery.
The workshop covered data governance, cybercrime prevention, protection of the power sector’s digital infrastructure, implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection framework and the development of secure artificial intelligence-enabled IT systems.
Training and capacity building prioritised
Participants highlighted the need for specialised training and continuous awareness programmes to build a workforce capable of responding to changing cyber threats. Capacity building, stronger coordination and clear security protocols were identified as key elements of the proposed framework.
The initiative aims to create a more secure digital ecosystem by combining technology, compliance, regular audits, incident response and workforce training to protect public systems and citizen data.
