The arrested individuals have been identified as Azeem Rana and Azad Rajput. Initial findings suggest that both had been in contact with a Pakistan-based handler since 2025. The connection was reportedly established through social media channels, which were used to communicate and receive instructions.
Investigations have revealed that the accused allegedly shared videos and photographs of several sensitive and public locations. These include the Sanatan Dharma Temple in Delhi, the Ravana Temple in Greater Noida, and nearby areas. Additionally, reconnaissance of public places such as metro stations and crowded locations was also carried out.
Sources indicate that on February 19, 2026, the accused sent multiple videos and images to their foreign contact. Agencies believe that the information was systematically collected and transmitted, pointing towards the possible involvement of a larger, organised network.
It has also emerged that the accused were receiving money in exchange for the information shared. Authorities are currently examining the extent of financial transactions involved and tracing the source of funding linked to the operation.
The foreign handler identified in the case is Shahzad Bhatti, who is suspected to have links with international criminal networks. Sources suggest that he may be associated with illegal arms trade and has connections across multiple countries.
A case has been registered against both accused, and further interrogation is underway. Investigative agencies are now working to identify other members of the network, map their connections, and uncover the full scope of the alleged espionage activities.
The incident once again highlights how social media platforms are being exploited by foreign networks to recruit individuals and gather sensitive information. Officials believe that further revelations may emerge as the investigation progresses.
