The project, developed jointly by the Gurugram Police and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, was inaugurated at Ambience Mall on Saturday by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
How the QR-Based Kiosk Works
However, challans that are pending before court or overdue for more than 90 days cannot be settled through the kiosk.
DCP said:
“For the first time in India, traffic challans can be paid through QR-based kiosks. This will not only ease the workload of traffic police but will also provide a faster and transparent digital option for citizens.”
Pilot Project and Expansion Plans
Officials said the system will bring transparency and efficiency to the challan payment process while eliminating the need for citizens to visit police stations or traffic offices for routine payments.
Integrated Emergency Call and Safety Features
Citizens can connect through a one-touch video call to report emergencies or request immediate assistance.
The system, operational 24×7, was recently tested by Police Commissioner Vikas Arora and DCP Rajesh Mohan during a trial run of the city’s new Smart Emergency Response Network.
A Step Towards Smart Traffic Management
The kiosks are expected to reduce manual workload, improve compliance rates, and strengthen data-driven policing.
Officials added that future plans include integrating the kiosks with AI-powered traffic analytics, facial recognition systems, and real-time data sharing to enhance citywide surveillance and safety.
Conclusion
By merging convenience, transparency, and technology, the city has set a benchmark for smart, citizen-centric governance — one that other Indian cities are likely to follow.
