Ghaziabad | A case of fraud involving ₹75 lakh has come to light in Muqimpur village under Bhojpur area where accused allegedly cheated people by promising agricultural land. It is alleged that after finalizing the land deal, the accused failed to execute the registry within the promised time and threatened the victims with death when they demanded their money back. Following the directions of the Police Commissioner, a report has been registered at Bhojpur police station against six persons and an investigation has been initiated.

According to police, Ramprasad, a resident of Indirgarh, Masuri police station, and Sunil Kumar alias Swami, a resident of Double Storey Colony, Govindpuri, Modinagar, had contacted the accused in March 2025. It is alleged that discussions were held regarding the purchase of agricultural land in Muqimpur village. During this, two persons named Deshraj Panwar and Sartaj allegedly facilitated the land deal.

It is reported that the land price was fixed at ₹20 lakh and ₹25 lakh per bigha (kacha measurement). The victims paid a total of ₹75 lakh as advance to the accused. However, the accused allegedly failed to complete the registry despite the agreed deadline.

The victims stated that when they pressured the accused to complete the registry, the accused started issuing threats. It is alleged that the accused used caste-related abusive language, forced the victims to leave, and also threatened them with death. Following this, the victims lodged a complaint with the Ghaziabad Police Commissioner.

After investigation on the instructions of the Police Commissioner, Bhojpur police registered a case. ACP Modinagar Bhaskar Verma said that based on the complaint, cases have been registered against Deshraj Panwar, Rajkumar Panwar (son of Ramesh Panwar), Arun Panwar (son of Deshraj Panwar), along with Ankit, Rahul of Muqimpur village, and Sartaj of Hapur Adda, Meerut.

Police officials said that the role of the accused and documents related to the land transaction are being examined. Bank transaction records and property documents may also be seized for verification. The investigation team is also checking whether the land was previously sold to someone else or whether there was any forgery involved in the deal.

Experts say that people should avoid making hurried investments in property-related transactions and must thoroughly verify land documents. Economic and cybercrime experts emphasize checking registry records, ownership rights, and local administrative records before purchasing land.

Police have appealed to the public to verify all legal documents before trusting unknown persons in land transactions. People are also advised to immediately inform the police in case of any threat or fraud. Officials said the investigation is ongoing and strict action will be taken against the guilty.
