Fraud alert: Fake website of Visakhapatnam Port Trust created to dupe job seekers

Visakhapatnam: Conmen have made several fake websites of leading companies and institutions to dupe job-seekers by advertising vacancies. The recent case is of  Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) where a fake website is created which has posted a job notification for trainee engineer and diploma trainee posts.

According to the officials, cybercriminals have created an identical website – www.visakhapatnamport.com to trap job seekers. The posted a job notification for 2,250 posts and were collecting Rs 1,200 as application fee from each aspirant. The basic salary for one of the fake posts was 80,000. The last date for application on the fake website was listed as 4 October and the exam date was announced to be held on 25 October.

The incident came to light after the VPT officials started receiving calls about the application and selection process. After a though check it was found the website was fake. Following this officials at the Visakhapatnam Port Trust lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime police of Vizag.

The VPT authorities stated that the management has no connection with the fraudulent website. The official website of Visakhapatnam Port Trust is  www.vizagport.com.
