Former Indian Administrative Service officer Divya Mittal has formally launched a new political outfit, Janneeti Bharat, and declared her intention to contest from the Mirzapur Sadar constituency in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Announcing the initiative during a live social media broadcast on Thursday, October 15, the former bureaucrat outlined her decision to establish an independent political platform rather than affiliate with existing parties, stating that her organization aims to directly involve citizens in governance and policy decisions.

The announcement follows her voluntary retirement from civil services on August 30, 2026, ending a 13-year administrative tenure in the Uttar Pradesh cadre. An officer of the 2013 batch, Mittal previously served in key administrative postings across the state, including tenures as District Magistrate in Sant Kabir Nagar, Deoria, and Mirzapur. Her decision to launch an independent platform and run for public office has generated significant interest across regional political circles.

Administrative Career and Deep Ties to Mirzapur

Mittal built a substantial administrative record across Uttar Pradesh, supervising governance initiatives and public grievance mechanisms during her tenure in Mirzapur, Deoria, and Sant Kabir Nagar. Her established connection with Mirzapur from her tenure as District Magistrate serves as the primary foundation for her decision to launch her electoral career from the Mirzapur Sadar Assembly seat.

Her formal entry into active politics materialized after she visited and offered prayers at the Vindhyavasini Devi Temple during the Navratri festival, where she finalized her plan to announce the political initiative on October 15. Observers and local constituencies are now watching how effectively her past district administrative engagements can be leveraged to generate direct voter engagement ahead of the scheduled state assembly polls.

Elite Technical Education and Corporate Background

Before qualifying for civil services, Mittal amassed distinguished academic credentials in engineering and management. She completed a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and later earned a Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.

Following her management studies, she worked in the corporate sector in London for an extended period before returning to India. She subsequently cleared the Union Public Service Commission civil services examination, joining the Uttar Pradesh cadre in 2013 and dedicating nearly thirteen years to public administration across the state before resigning to pursue electoral politics.

Electoral Roadmap for the 2027 State Assembly Polls

The formation of Janneeti Bharat establishes an independent political entity focused on contesting the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, with the Mirzapur Sadar contest serving as its principal starting campaign. The party intends to field candidates focused on direct citizen involvement in decision-making, offering an alternative to conventional political party frameworks.

Details regarding the wider organizational structure of Janneeti Bharat, possible alliance strategies, and prospective candidates for other constituencies across Uttar Pradesh have not yet been released. The coming months are expected to provide clarity on how the newly founded party builds grassroots support and translates administrative familiarity into sustained electoral momentum.
