The final registration window has opened for the first cohort of the Certified BFSI Compliance Officer (CBCO) program, an India-focused professional certification beginning on 3 October 2026 at 11 a.m. The four-week weekend program is designed for professionals and aspiring professionals working across banking, NBFCs, fintech, payments, insurance, securities, AML, risk, audit, legal and governance functions. Its 16-module curriculum covers the major regulators and compliance areas shaping India’s financial sector, including RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, PFRDA, FIU-IND, KYC, AML/CFT, digital lending, payments, fraud risk, data protection and regulatory reporting.
With only days remaining before the inaugural cohort begins, the program is being positioned as a structured entry point into one of the fastest-expanding professional functions within India’s increasingly digital and regulated financial-services ecosystem.
Why BFSI Compliance Is Becoming a Bigger Career Opportunity
Compliance in financial services is no longer limited to periodic filings or interpreting regulatory circulars.
Banks, NBFCs, fintech companies, payment businesses, securities firms and insurers now operate at the intersection of regulation, technology, customer protection, financial-crime controls and data governance. A single digital-lending product, for example, can involve KYC obligations, customer disclosures, outsourcing requirements, data handling, recovery practices, cybersecurity and regulatory reporting.
That convergence is creating a need for professionals who can understand how different regulatory obligations fit together inside day-to-day financial operations.
The CBCO program has therefore been structured around the functioning of a modern compliance department rather than around a single law or regulator. The official curriculum includes regulatory governance, interpretation of obligations, compliance monitoring, audits, inspections, escalation, reporting and regulatory-change management.
The program is relevant for compliance aspirants, law and finance students, banking and NBFC professionals, fintech and payments teams, risk and GRC professionals, internal auditors, lawyers, company secretaries, chartered accountants, AML analysts, KYC professionals and fraud-risk teams.
Importantly, the certification is positioned as professional learning rather than as a substitute for any statutory qualification, experience or appointment requirement that may apply to designated compliance roles in regulated entities.
From RBI and SEBI to AML, Digital Lending and Fraud Risk
The 16-module curriculum begins with the structure of India’s BFSI regulatory ecosystem and the respective roles of RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, PFRDA and FIU-IND.
Participants then move into KYC and customer due diligence, followed by anti-money laundering, countering financing of terrorism and FIU-IND reporting under the PMLA framework. Separate modules address banking and NBFC compliance, lending and digital lending, payments, UPI, cards and fintech operations.
The course then expands into securities-market compliance, insurance and pension regulation, customer protection, grievance redressal, data privacy, digital compliance, cybersecurity, IT risk and third-party outsourcing.
Later modules cover fraud-risk management, regulatory reporting, FEMA, cross-border transactions, sanctions, compliance monitoring, audits, inspections and regulatory readiness.
That breadth is deliberate.
Instead of attempting to make participants specialists in every BFSI regulation within a short program, CBCO is designed to give learners a working map of the compliance function—what the major regulators expect, where different obligations intersect and how compliance teams operate inside financial institutions.
The course runs over four weekends, with live sessions from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Recordings and learning materials are made available through the FCRF Academy LMS, and the certification is included in the program. The current program fee is listed at ₹4,999 inclusive of applicable taxes.
FCRF Academy Expands Its Professional Compliance Portfolio
CBCO extends FCRF Academy’s existing professional certification portfolio into BFSI compliance.
The Academy has developed programs across areas including data protection, cybersecurity auditing, governance, risk and compliance, information-security leadership, cyber law, fraud investigation and AI-powered security operations. Its programs are generally structured as short-duration, practitioner-led certifications intended for working professionals and learners entering specialised roles.
For CBCO, that approach is being applied to a sector in which compliance responsibilities are becoming increasingly intertwined with technology, financial crime, privacy, risk and customer protection.
The opportunity is therefore broader than memorising regulations.
A modern BFSI compliance professional increasingly needs to understand how a regulation affects a product, what evidence demonstrates compliance, when an issue should be escalated, what needs to be reported to a regulator and how risk, audit, legal and business teams work together.
That practical orientation forms the core of the CBCO program.
With the first cohort beginning on 3 October 2026, registrations have now entered their final phase.
